Toshiba Wins Gold in 2015 Best in Biz Awards

Toshiba America Business Solutions’ e-BRIDGECloudConnect cloud-based application has earned a Gold Best in Biz Award in the ‘Enterprise Service of the Year’ category.

This year’s recognition comes on the heels of Toshiba’s 2014 Gold Best in Biz Award for ‘Most Innovative Product of the Year,’ which the company earned for its e-STUDIO306LP/RD30, the world’s first multifunction product with erasable toner. The Best in Biz Awards are the only independent business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analysts.

The Irvine, Calif. technology company’s now widely adopted CloudConnect enterprise service optimizes the operation and functionality of its customers’ e-STUDIO print fleets. The state-of-the-art support app bolsters the user experience by gathering and transmitting service updates via the cloud.

The fifth annual Best in Biz Awards in North America boasted the highest number of submissions to date. More than 600 entries were received this year from a wide array of public and private companies of all sizes and from a variety of industries and geographic regions in the United States and Canada.

“In the more than 15 years that I have been covering enterprise and consumer technology, it’s been fascinating to watch ‘old school’ tools and technologies evolve for the cloud era,” said Mathew Schwartz, InfoRiskToday. “What struck me most about this year’s entries in the Best in Biz Awards were the businesses that — brand names or not, long-established players or even more recently birthed organizations — continue to grapple with how to best reinvent themselves, and by doing so best tap the latest technology possibilities and capabilities for better attracting, retaining and serving their customers.”

Winners of Best in Biz Awards 2015 were determined based on scoring from an independent panel of 46 judges from highly recognized newspapers, business, consumer and technology publications, radio outlets, and analyst firms. In addition to the numerous judges returning from previous panels from 2011through 2014, this year’s judging panel included several worthy additions to the high-profile group.

The panel included contributors to ABC, About.com, Bloomberg Businessweek, Buffalo News, Business News Daily, Chip Design Magazine, Computerworld, Consumer Affairs, CRN, ECT News Network, eWeek Channel Insider, Fast Company,Fierce Online Video, Forbes, FOX News Latino, Hartford Business Journal, Inc. Magazine, InfoRisk Today, Information Week, King Features Syndicate, L.A. Biz, MediaPost, Motley Fool, PE HUB, Phoenix Business Journal, Portland Business Journal, ReadWriteWeb, San Jose Mercury News, Silicon Valley Business Journal, Small Business Digest, South Florida Business Journal, Tech Cocktail, Wired, Woman’s Day and Xconomy.

“Our engineering, sales and marketing teams are incredibly excited to receive another Gold Best in Biz Award, particularly with the impressive collection of journalists judging the competition,” said Toshiba America Business Solutions Chief Marketing Executive, Bill Melo. “User experience is among our product designer’s top considerations. Toshiba’s CloudConnect can continuously monitor our printers, allowing us to diagnose and often remotely address issues before they affect customers. CloudConnect definitely provides our clients with a best in biz ownership experience.”

Toshiba Makes the Grade at New York School District

Toshiba America Business Solutions’ fleet of e-STUDIOTM multifunction products (MFP) is saving Western New York’sPittsford Central School District (PCSD) 30 percent each year in copying and printing costs says the district’s chief information officer.

This savings exceeded the expectation of PCSD CIO Jeff Cimmerer, Ed.D. when the IT executive first sought a vendor capable of providing best-in-class solutions worthy of this high-performing district (both of its high schools consistently rank in the top 100 schools in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report). Satisfying content management needs of the more than 7,000 students, teachers, and administrative staff also required quality equipment.

“Upon receiving clarification about our needs, Toshiba’s team developed the most comprehensive and compelling product portfolio to better address our content management needs at a price-point that made sense,” PCSD’s CIO said. “Toshiba’s product, sales and technical teams were all given exceptional references by other organizations. But even more importantly, Toshiba’s output management products and services clearly meet and in many cases exceed the lofty benchmark expectations we put into place during the RFP process.”

Toshiba’s industry-recognized e-STUDIO products are currently in use by all PCSD schools and throughout its central office, curriculum, athletic, transportation, food services, and maintenance departments fulfilling all content management needs while also reducing costs for the school district.

Dr. Cimmerer added, “As a result of working with Toshiba, we have vastly improved securing all print and copy jobs, and now comply fully with our security policy.  It makes sense to keep doing business with a company that follows through on its commitments, and continues to demonstrate its local excellence.”

Toshiba Expands Thermal Barcode Printer Line with New Wireless Models

Toshiba America Business Solutions today introduces its desktop BFV-4 thermal barcode printer series for on-demand labels in any transportation/logistics, healthcare and retail environment.

The printers’ compact and top-loading, clamshell design – weighing in at less than 5 ½ pounds – facilitates sharing between departments, dedicated to a single station or any place where space is limited. Available in both thermal transfer (BFV-4T) and direct thermal (BFV-4D) formats, both printers come standard with USB and Ethernet connectivity with optional wireless 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth allowing for label printing from other locations without cables or wiring. Toshiba’s wireless configurations will be available beginning in Q1 2016.

“VDC forecasts high single-digit growth for desktop printers as these take share away from industrial alternatives due to increased demand for low-to-mid volume barcode labeling in healthcare, logistics, and retail,” said Richa Gupta, senior analyst at VDC Research. “Toshiba’s competitively priced BFV-4 line is designed to address this demand while also potentially giving the company access to new accounts with its brand-agnostic approach to printer emulation.” Users will also appreciate the BFV-4T printer’s expanded ribbon capacity as the model is capable of using a high-capacity 300 meter ribbon for optimal efficiency. The BFV-4T is also backward compatible with its predecessor, Toshiba’s popular B-EV4 printer – which holds smaller 100 meter ribbons – thereby providing customers with consumable options.

With a maximum speed of 6 inches per second, the B-FV4 series deliver up to 57 four-by-six inch labels per minute to accommodate even the busiest of environments.  Toshiba’s latest thermal barcode printers additionally feature emulations such as ZPL®, EPL®, DPL®and IPL® for seamless and efficient integration within any organization’s existing operation. Users may easily switch emulations via Toshiba’s settling tool utility.

“The introduction of our BFV-4 series provides the necessary complement to our existing thermal barcode printer line,” Bill Melo, Toshiba America Business Solution’s chief marketing executive. “The availability of our new thermal barcode printers now enables us to fully address our customers’ desire for added mobility and efficiency while also providing a fairly compelling TCO.”

The BFV-4T and BFV-4D are now available for purchase through authorized Toshiba dealers. Toshiba’s BFV-4 series features a one-year standard return to depot warranty.
